State code of deformed aluminum alloy
1. State code of deformed aluminum alloy
The basic state is divided into 5 types, as shown in the expression .
Codename |
Name |
Description and application |
F |
Free processing status |
Applicable to products with special requirements for work hardening and heat treatment conditions during the forming process, the mechanical properties of the product are not specified |
O |
Annealed state |
Suitable for processed products that have been fully annealed for lowest strength |
H |
Work hardening state |
Applicable to products that increase strength by work hardening. After the work hardening, the product can pass through (or not) the additional heat treatment to reduce the strength. The H code is followed by two or three Arabic numerals. |
T |
Heat treatment state (different from F, O, H state) |
Applicable to products that have been stabilized after (or without) work hardening after heat treatment. The T code must be followed by one or more Arabic numerals. |

Description and application |
TO |
After solution heat treatment, it passes through the state of cold working through natural aging. Suitable for products that have been cold worked to increase strength |
T1 |
It is cooled by a high temperature molding process and then naturally aged to a substantially stable state. Applicable to products that are cooled after the high temperature forming process and are not subjected to cold working (straightening and leveling, but without affecting the mechanical properties). |
T2 |
It is cooled by a high-temperature molding process and naturally aged to a substantially stable state after cold working. Suitable for products that are cooled by high temperature forming process, cold worked, or straightened and leveled to increase strength |
T3 |
After solution heat treatment, cold working is performed, and then, natural aging to a substantially stable state. Suitable for products that are cold worked, or straightened and leveled to improve strength after solution heat treatment |
T4 |
After solution heat treatment, it is naturally aged to a substantially stable state. Applicable to products that are not subjected to cold working after solution heat treatment (straightening and leveling, but not affecting the limit of mechanical properties) |
T5 |
It is cooled by a high temperature molding process and then subjected to an artificial aging state. |
T6 |
A state of artificial aging after heat treatment by solution heat treatment. |
T7 |
A state of artificial aging after heat treatment by solution heat treatment. |
T8 |
After solution heat treatment, it is cold worked and then subjected to artificial aging. |
T9 |
The solution is artificially aged after solution heat treatment, and then subjected to cold working. |
T1O |
After being cooled by the high-temperature molding process, it is subjected to cold working and then subjected to artificial aging. |
Note: Some alloys of 6XXX, whether in the furnace solution heat treatment or quenching from the high temperature forming process to retain the soluble components in the solid solution, can achieve the same solution heat treatment effect, T3, T4, T6, The T7, T8 and T9 states may be any of the above two treatment methods. |
T state and TXXX state (outside stress relief state)
Adding an Arabic digit (called the TXX state) after the TX status code, or adding two Arabic numerals (called the TXXX state), indicates that the product characteristics (such as mechanical properties, corrosion resistance, etc.) have changed significantly. The state of the process is shown in Table 6.

Status code |
Description and application |
T42 |
It is suitable for products with natural aging to achieve sufficient stability after solution heat treatment in O or F state. It is also suitable for products with mechanical properties reaching T42 after heat treatment of processed products in any state. |
T62 |
Applicable to products that have entered artificial aging after O-F state solution heat treatment, and are also suitable for products with mechanical properties reaching T62 after heat treatment of processed products in any state by demander |
T73 |
Applicable to products with aging treatment to achieve the specified mechanical properties and stress corrosion resistance after solution heat treatment |
T74 |
Same as the T73 state definition. The tensile strength of this state is greater than the T73 state, but less than the T76 state |
T76 |
Same as the T73 state definition. The tensile strength of this state is higher than that of T73 and T74 respectively, and the stress corrosion cracking resistance is lower than T73 and T74, respectively, but its anti-flaking corrosion performance is still good |
T7X2 |
Applicable to products with artificial aging treatment after solid solution heat treatment in O or F state, mechanical properties and corrosion resistance up to T7X state |
T81 |
Applicable to solid solution heat treatment, after 1% cold work deformation to increase strength, and then artificial aging products |
T87 |
Applicable to solid solution heat treatment, after 7% or so of cold work deformation to increase strength, and then artificial aging products |
